It is time for us to revolt! We need to show car manufacturers that we are tired of this mouth-breathing style that has been going on for almost a full generation. Sure we've had a few gorgeous cars produced during the last 50 years or so that fit the description, but those are exempt simply because it went well with the overall design of the car and became iconic - Shelby Cobra, Ferrari 375, '53 Corvette, etc. But this latest generation of mouth-breathing cars produced are just plain ugly - from the Toyotas, to the Mitsubishis, to Cadillacs, to Fords, to... well, damn near every mass market car (and even some of the non-mass-market) designed since the turn of the millennia. They all look ridiculous.

It's time, my fellow Jalops. It's time to show with our wallets that we're tired of this stupid look, and that we'd prefer cars that have a sexy and sleek looking face - not the face of an old school-bus.

Just look at 'em all:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Even the Brits got in on it:

Kinja'd!!!

Put a curly blonde wig on any of 'em and you have this:

Kinja'd!!!

It has to stop!

Fellow Jalops, I implore you, we need to UNITE!

Here, have some eye bleach:

Will never unsee.

I cannot believe I didn't notice this styling element.

I like the Lancer and the Dart... The front bumper on the focus is awful though, it's a shame because the rest of the car looks okay.

I couldn't agree more. We've been taught to THINK this is beautiful, but that's only because it's all we get!

I like the fact that cars have grills now unlike the 90s.

I know what you mean, but it'd help much more if you posted exotic examples to compare with that Countach and Daytona.

Cars today make more power from smaller engines. A Focus ST makes almost as much power as a 90s era 5.7L Trans Am did. More power begets more heat. Radiators, intercoolers, oil coolers...all those heat exchangers gotta go somewhere, and that 'somewhere' has to be a place where cool, fast flowing air is within easy access. 98% of the time, this means poking huge holes in the face of the car, because where else are those heat exchangers going to go?

Your eye bleach features non-turbocharged carbureted cars that make as much or less horsepower as today's 5.0 Mustang. Less power, less heat, less need for giant holes in the face of the car. Why don't we take a look at todays six figure supercars that make considerably more power?

More power -> more heat -> more, larger holes in the face of the car and elsewhere. Engine technology has gotten way better in between the 60s and today, but it's not magic. That heat has to go somewhere if we don't want the engine to die.

So you want this car?

Welcome to the 90s where the fronts of cars were just giant plastic blobs.

Oh, you and your "facts," and "real information."

Seriously though, great post. Appreciate the clarity and detail.

Well, Ferarri has a couple other ideas where the heat could go...

I reject the STS from this list, but I agree! I do not find many of the new cars out there attractive
